Cremona:
The Home of the Violin |
Cremona is widely regarded as the home of the world’s greatest violin makers. It was in this ancient Italian town that Antonio Stradivari set up his workshop in the early 1700s and where Andrea Amati designed the first template of the modern violin. Steeped in centuries of tradition and skill, Cremona’s artisans continue this labour of love, hand-crafting masterpieces using only the finest materials. It is the wood from which the instrument is made that gives the Cremona violin its unique sound. The violin the House of Primavera is donating is made from the same rare wood that Stradivari used in his violins. The back, ribs and scroll are all made from Ferdinando Sacconi maple seasoned for over 50 years. The top is fashioned from Capacchioni val d fiemme spruce. The wood for the bow was acquired from Hill of London. |

A Personalised House of Primavera Violin |
The House of Primavera has been making violins since the 19th century; a forthcoming book will detail four generations of craftsmanship. Mr. Alfredo Primavera will present the personalised violin set to the winner of the auction during the concert. |

Musafia Cremona Bespoke Case |
Musafia Cremona have fashioned a bespoke violin case for the Primavera violin. Musafia are the cases of choice for the world’s greatest violinists. This is not just because of their elegance, but also their durability and ability to protect violins from extreme weather conditions. For example, Musafia introduced the first truly effective hygrometer-humidifier system in 1988.

The Bow of Choice |
Emilio Slaviero is one of the best known bow-makers in the world and has made bows for most of the world’s best known string musicians. The bow he has made for MedArt is only the second of its kind. Its twin is used by famous violinist Salvatore Accardo. It is modelled after Francescatti's piccate.
